Meet Elaina
Elaina is a classically trained chef with a Cordon Bleu background, a well-worn passport, and a deep belief that great food should make people feel both nourished and cared for.
After spending more than two decades living throughout North Africa, the Middle East, and South Africa, her culinary style has been shaped by a rich tapestry of cultures, ingredients, and traditions. Her cooking is layered with bold flavors, exceptional produce, and a lifelong appreciation for the simple pleasures of good olive oil, vibrant markets, and perfectly ripe tomatoes.
Throughout her career, Elaina has had the privilege of working in some of South Africa's most celebrated kitchens, including La Colombe, Salsify at the Roundhouse, Belly of the Beast, and Galjoen. These experiences refined her attention to detail and reinforced the belief that hospitality is found in both the grand gestures and the smallest touches.
Her journey also led her to regenerative and farm-focused kitchens, including Indrani Lodge and Meuse Farm, where she deepened her commitment to seasonal cooking and thoughtful sourcing. Along the way, she cooked aboard luxury yachts and in private villas throughout the South of France and Italy, bringing bespoke dining experiences to guests from around the world.
Later, as Sous Chef and Interim Executive Chef at The Ranch Hudson Valley, Elaina developed vibrant vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free menus that demonstrated wellness-focused cuisine can be every bit as satisfying, beautiful, and flavor-driven as traditional dining.
Today, Elaina works as a private chef throughout the Hudson Valley, creating bespoke culinary experiences for retreats, intimate dinners, celebrations, and special gatherings. By partnering with local farmers and producers, she sources organic, regenerative, and seasonal ingredients whenever possible, allowing each menu to reflect both the region and the moment.
Her approach is deeply personal, thoughtfully seasonal, and rooted in the belief that the most memorable meals are the ones that bring people together around the table.
